Watcher's Council Nominations, 10/15/08

The Watcher's Council is a group of some of the most incisive blogs in the`sphere. Every week, the members nominate two posts each, one of their own and one from outside the group for consideration by the whole Council.

A full list of entries, including some excellent non-Council ones can be found here.

Council News: We are still taking applications for the spot available on the Watcher’s Council. If you have a blog of your own and feel you measure up, you're welcome to find out what's involved and apply here. Or you can leave a comment in the comments section on this post.

So, let's see what we have this week...

JoshuaPundit- The Jewish Stockholm Syndrome - Barack Obama's views and past associations (not to mention his present ones) ought to set off warning signals to most Jews equivalent to a three alarm fire in a crowded city. So why is he likely to get at least 60% of the Jewish vote?

Rhymes With Right- Democrats Object To Fundamentally True Statement - Greg examines a statement by a Virginia Republican that compares Barack Hussein Obama and Osama bin-Laden in one respect; they both are close associates with terrorists who bombed the Pentagon.

The Razor- Oil Boom Turns to Bust - This week, Scott looks at the rapidly declining price of crude and what it possibly portends. I only hope that declining prices won't torpedo efforts to make America indedpendent of foreign oil.

Cheat-Seeking Missiles- Raile Odinga Joins Ayres, Wright, Alinsky et. al. As Questionable Obama Associates - I'm glad Laer covered this story, which concerns Obama's close association with a violent marxist and pro-Islamist Kenyan politician that the dinosaur media has totally ignored.

The Glittering Eye- Issues 2008: Reforming Government - Dave continues his fine series of forums on the issues of the current campaign.

Hillbilly White Trash- More on the little messiah’s troubling friends - Lemuel has a good time taking on a Democrat commentor hwile making the case for McCain.

Soccer Dad- Putting on Ayers - Soccer Dad examines columns by Charles Krauthammer and Dan Riehl that deal with the issue of Obama's poisonous allies and associations over the years on whether and how they should be campaign issues. In my opinion, McCain should have been doing that forcefully ( or had his surrogates doing it) from day one, especially in the prior two debates.

McCain has stated he plans to bring Bill Ayers up in tonight's debate, but I doubt it will make much of a difference at this point. Pity.

The Colossus of Rhodey- Why “hazard pay” for tough schools won’t work - Among his other accomplishments, Hube is a teacher in the trenches. This week he examines the concept of giving teacher's extra pay for working in 'troubled' schools and exactly why it won't work.

Bookworm - A Great Day By The Bay - Ms Bookworm recounts a fun day spent as an official Navy League greeter for the USS Bonhomme Richard.
